Lakshadweep’s sun kissed beaches with less human interference, is a heaven for those who prefer silence to hoo ha. Stunning yet isolated, its real gem is found under water, in form of  corals, hence called a ‘Coral Paradise’. Kavaratti, the capital of this uninhabited island is a cluster known for its virgin marine flora and fauna.

What to See

Agatti Island

Paradise for water sports lovers, it offers facilities like kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and a glass bottom boating around the lagoon.

Bangaram Island

Perfect for relaxing vacationers, the island also has water activities like scuba diving, riding sea kayaks, sailing the catamaran and also windsurfing.

Kavaratti Island

High on demand for snorkelling, water skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, jet skiing and water biking. Glass bottom boat tours are also popular.

Kadmat Island

A must visit for snorkelling, this island is full of beautiful coral reefs. Also try sailing, parasailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, jet skiing and boat tours.

Minicoy Island

Second largest island in Lakshadweep, is good for local sightseeing and fishing. Relax on the beach or go for pedal boating, kayaking, and sailing.

Kalpeni Island

Full of pristine beaches and blue lagoon, the lighthouse and Jama Masjid here is worth visiting.  There are plenty of coral life and snorkeling is popular here. Perfect place to laze out in the sun and get a tan.

Festivals in Lakshadweep

The majority people in Lakshadweep follow Islam, hence Islamic festivals are celebrated here with great enthusiasm. Major Islamic Festivals like Eid-ul-Fitr, Milad-Ul-Nabi, Bakri-Eid, and Muharram are observed here with much enthusiasm. This is the time to get a real taste of culture.

Shopping in Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep is not a shopping destination, however, every beach has some shops that sell curios, shell products and chunky jewellery in budget rates.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Lakshadweep is from October to mid May. Rainy season starts here from mid May to September hence water sports are difficult, though the greenery comes in full bloom.

How to reach

By Air:

Cochin International Airport Agatti Island has direct Alliance Air Flights to reach the island. Helicopter transfer is also available from Agatti island.   

By Sea:

Seven passenger ships operate between Cochin and the Islands of Lakshadweep. It takes approximately 14 to 20 hours. Passengers must check out their official site for more ticketing information.
